There are various economic reasons that may justify a dismissal. These may include:

  •  the poor, or deteriorating, financial situation of the company;
  •  reduction of work;
  •  organisational and/or technological changes, like automation;
  •  (partial) discontinuation of the business;
  •  company relocation.

If no agreement can be reached in joint consultation in respect of a redundancy scheme, the UWV can be asked for permission to terminate the employment agreement.
